McFadden double
James McFadden opened the scoring for the hosts on nine minutes and Karl Ready made it 2-0 with a strike 17 minutes later. A Juan Sara penalty eleven minutes before half-time gave Dundee hope but second-half goals from Stuart Elliott and McFadden put Motherwell in firm control. Khaled Kemes scored a last-minute consolation effort for Dundee.
League standings
Despite the win Motherwell are still eleventh, but they are now eight points clear of bottom club Saint Johnstone FC. Dundee stay ninth.
