German striker Fredi Bobic has joined Bolton Wanderers FC on loan from BV Borussia Dortmund.

German striker Fredi Bobic has joined Bolton Wanderers FC from BV Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season.

Medical needed
The former international passed a medical on Friday and will be in the English FA Premiership club's squad to face Chelsea FC this Saturday. Bobic had previously been in talks with Spanish club Villareal CF about a loan move but a deal could not be agreed.

'Very optimistic'

Hungry for first-team football
Bobic, 30, was top scorer at the 1. Bundesliga club last season, but the arrival of Czech striker Jan Koller and Brazilian duo Ewerthon and Marcio Amoroso have seen the former VfB Stuttgart striker drop down the pecking order at the Westfalenstadion.

Late show
Meanwhile, Dortmund have imposed heavy sanctions against Marcio Amoroso and Bosnia-Herzegovnian defender Sead Kapetanovic for failing to show up on time at the club's training camp in Spain following the Christmas break. Amoroso has been fined €20,000 while Kapetanovic's days as a Dortmund player appear to be numbered.
