Injury problems
Van Gastel, 29, has signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Serie B side, subject to a medical. Linked with a move to AS Roma in 1999, the former Netherlands international spent much of last year in the treatment room and struggled to win a first-team place when he recovered from injury.
Bombarda bid
Ternana, currently 18th in Serie B, failed in a recent bid to try to attract Argentinian striker Mariano Bombarda from Willem II.
