Albert Sargsyan has agreed terms to take over as the new coach of FC Dinamo-2000 Yerevan.
Successful playing career
As a highly respected player, Sargsyan spent six seasons for FC Ararat Yerevan and also had a short spell in Ukraine with FC Dynamo Kyiv. The 38-year-old became an assistant coach at Ararat in 1997, before moving on to take charge of FC Dvin in 1998. He was then responsible for the Armenian Under-18 side from 1998 to 2001.
Aslanyan out
The Dinamo job became vacant when coach Vagarshak Aslanyan was ousted at the end of the 2001 season, when the side finished ninth in the Armenian Premier League. Club chairman Levon Hasratyan considered several candidates before making his choice.
Football family
Sargsyan comes from a respected football family in Armenia. His older brother, Armen, was also a professional footballer before going on to coach Ararat and then becoming president of the Armenian Football Federation (AFF) from 1995 to 1998.
New face at MIKA
Meanwhile, FC MIKA have appointed former Russian international and FC Spartak Moscow player Sergey Gorlukovich as their player-coach. The Russian has signed a two-year deal with Armenian team.
