FC København defender Kim Madsen has agreed a three-year deal with VfL Wolfsburg and will join former team-mate Thomas Rytter at the 1. Bundesliga club this summer.
Madsen rejected offer
The Danish side were forced to cash in on the 23-year-old after he rejected an extension to his current contract which expires at the end of June.
We can't compete
"It's no secret we would have preferred Kim to stay but we have to realise that we can't match the media circus surrounding the Bundesliga and the financial rewards within the league," said København director Niels Christian Holmström.
Mixed emotions
Madsen, who has made 93 appearances for København, said he had mixed feelings about leaving the Parken team. "I've had six good years here and it is with a bleeding heart that I am leaving this club. But I have had a great offer and I am very excited to continue my career in Germany."
