Rob Wielaert has left PSV Eindhoven and signed a permanent deal with NEC Nijmegen.

Rob Wielaert has signed a permanent deal with NEC Nijmegen after admitting there was no future for him with PSV Eindhoven.

Four-year deal
The 23-year-old midfield player came through the ranks at PSV but was unable to break into the first team and was loaned out to FC Den Bosch. He joined NEC in October for the rest of the season and has impressed coach Johan Neeskens enough to earn a four-year deal when his loan expires in the summer. No financial details about the transfer have been disclosed.

'Big plus'
Wielaert, who can also play in defence, has no regrets about leaving the Dutch champions. He said: "I'm very glad that I know now what my future will be. Here I have all the space I need to grow further." He added that Neeskens's decision to renew his coaching contract with NEC was also a "big plus" in persuading him to sign.

Owusu signing
Meanwhile, NEC are set to strengthen their squad further with the signing of Mike Owusu from Swedish side Örgryte IS. The Ghanaian defender is expected to put pen to paper on an 18-month deal later this week in time to play in Friday's home game against Eredivisie strugglers Sparta Rotterdam.
