Edi Iordanescu, son of Romanian national coach Anghel, has signed for Cypriot side Alki FC.

Lack of action
Alki coach, and fellow Romanian, Ilie Dumitrescu snapped up the 23-year-old midfield player despite his lack of first-team experience. Iordanescu, who has had spells with CF Sportul Studentesc, Diplomatic Focsani, FC Rapid Bucuresti and Greek club Panionios GS, has joined Alki on an 18-month contract.

Greatest result
Dumitrescu's best years as a player - between 1993 and '98 - were spent under the watchful eye of then national-team coach Anghel Iordanescu. Alki are currently seventh in Romania's Divizia A and achieved arguably the greatest result in their 58-year history on Sunday as they won 5-1 away to champions Omonia FC.
