FC Spartak Moscow have signed FC Zürich's Yugoslavian Under-19 international Aleksandr Selkic for an undisclosed fee.
Brought up in Switzerland
The 18-year-old Selkic, who was brought up in Switzerland from the age of eleven, played for the youth teams of FC Basel, Lausanne-Sports and Grasshopper-Club before joining Zürich. A tall and quick midfield player, he is often used in a defensive role.
Young guns
The signing of Selkic continues coach Oleg Romantsev's push to inject young talent into his squad. He has already signed teenage playmaker Aleksandr Kudrjashov from AS Saint-Etienne, Pyotr Nemov from Dinamo Moscow and Dmitry Sychev, an 18-year-old forward, from Russian second division side Spartak Tomj.
Immediate impact
Sychev has made an immediate impact at Spartak, scoring in six successive Commonwealth Cup matches this month.
