Article body
Gidon Damti's dream start to his spell as Maccabi Netanya coach continued on Monday as his side beat Maccabi Tel-Aviv 1-0.
Glam on target
Defender Moshe Glam scored the only goal of the game with a 20-metre shot in the 25th minute but Netanya goalkeeper Martin Peshco was the man of the match, making a series of fine saves. He foiled Amir Turgeman 16 minutes from time after the striker's initial header hit the crossbar.
Chance missed
The defeat means that Tel-Aviv blew the chance to go top of Israel's Ligat ha-Al, where they trail leaders Maccabi Haifa by two points after 18 matches. Maccabi Haifa beat bottom club Maccabi Kiryat Gat 5-1 on Sunday to move to the top of the table, while Netanya are now fifth after a memorable victory.
