The 2-0 win at the Ashdod Municipal stadium was enough to see Ashdod maintain their one-point lead over Maccabi Netanya, who beat Maccabi Petach-Tikva 2-0 away, but they remain eleven points adrift of Israel's top club, Hapoel Tel-Aviv.
Kiriat-Gat's problems deepen
In Saturday's other games, Hapoel Ironi Rishon lost 1-0 at home to Hapoel Petach-Tikva and Maccabi Kiriat-Gat's relegation problems deepened as they crashed 2-1 at home to Beitar Jerusalem.
