Article body
Derry City FC manager Kevin Mahon has finally decided to take the post on a full-time basis.
Professional commitment
The coach, who has been managing the club in a part-time capacity since October 1998, has agreed to give up his day job and commit himself fully to the Brandywell club. His decision means Derry join Shamrock Rovers FC, Bohemian FC, Shelbourne FC and Saint Patrick's Athletic FC in having a professional manager.
'Positive steps'
Derry chairman Jim Roddy said that he was delighted by Mahon's decision, telling the club's website that it was "the first of many positive steps over the coming months, which will help secure the future of Derry City Football Club".
Full responsibility
Mahon will now assume responsibility for the development of all Derry City's players, from the youths to the senior team, as well as assisting with the formation of the club's first women's football team.
