Scottish Premier League side Hibernian FC have signed Finnish international Jarkko Wiss.

Scottish Premier League side Hibernian FC have signed Finnish international Jarkko Wiss from Stockport County FC for an undisclosed fee.

Successful trial
The 29-year-old midfield player has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Edinburgh club after completing a successful trial at Easter Road. Wiss, who is likely to make his debut in Thursday's home game against Aberdeen FC, had fallen out of favour at Stockport following the arrival of Carlton Palmer as manager at the English first division club.

'Add to the strength of our squad'
Franck Sauzée, the Hibernian manager, said: "Jarkko is an experienced player who has played at a very high level. We are delighted to have him join us at Easter Road and I am sure he will add to the strength of our player squad."

'I am really delighted'
Wiss, who has scored three goals in his 38 appearances for Finland, was thrilled to make the move north. "I am really delighted because there were different reasons why my career at Stockport was ending and when I heard about Hibernian's interest I was happy to come here for a few day's trial, meet the coach and the other staff and to see the boys in training," he said. "I am delighted to say that everything went well and that I have signed a new contract here."
