FC Dinamo Tbilisi have appointed former Croatia Under-21 coach Ivo Susak as their new coach.

'A very famous manager'
The 55-year-old coach met the club's players in Cyprus on Friday after signing a two-year deal with the club. Susak replaces Givi Nodia who stepped down as coach earlier this week having been in charge of Dinamo since June 2001. "Ivo Susak is a very famous manager and he will do his best for the club," said Dinamo director Nika Kobalava.

Slovenian disappointment
Susak will be hoping to restore his reputation after being dismissed by Slovenian first division side NK Maribor in 2001. He will become only the second coach from western Europe to take charge of a Georgian side, following the lead of Dutch manager Johan Boskamp, who was in charge of Dinamo in 1999.

Coaching career
Susak began his coaching career at FN Zagreb in 1992. He subsequently coached Croatian clubs BK Osiek, NK Marsonia, NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac, as well as the Croatian Under-21 side (from 1996-2000) and Slovenian clubs NK Izola and NK Maribor.

Sixth place
With the Georgian Premier League currently on its mid-winter break, Dinamo are in sixth place in the table. With 28 points, they are 16 points adrift of leaders FC Torpedo Kutusai.
