All change in Portugal

Mário Reis has left UD Leiria, while Spaniard Paco Fortes has returned to SC Farense.

Mário Reis has left his post at UD Leiria after only five games in charge, while Spaniard Paco Fortes has returned to SC Farense following the departure of Jorge Castelo last week.

Five and out
Reis, who only took over from José Mourinho last month, won his first match in charge but lost the next four. The club are still fifth in the 1. Liga, however, largely thanks to the efforts of Mourinho, who left for FC Porto.

Bad atmosphere
Reis felt a lack of team spirit had made his job impossible. "I've made no changes to the team, these are the players who won games and now can't do it," he said after Sunday's defeat by struggling Varzim SC. "There are things at the club the board should take care of."

Disciplinary offences
Reis's version of events appears to have been backed up by reports claiming that several players are under investigation for disciplinary offences. Vitor Pontes, brought in as coaching assistant by Mourinho, will take charge of the first team until the end of the campaign.

Fortes returns
There have now been 12 coaching changes in the Portuguese top flight this season, with Fortes returning to struggling Farense. "It's possible to keep Farense in the division," he said after his first training session.

'Badly treated'
Meanwhile, Marinho Peres has announced that he will leave CF Os Belenenses at the end of the season. "I don't like being treated badly by the supporters," he said. "I've got the message and I won't be here next season. In the summer I will return to Brazil."
