Article body
FC Ashdod are fourth in the Ligat ha-Al after a 2-1 win against Maccabi Netanya on Friday.
Ashdod claim advantage
Ashdod took the lead after 38 minutes when Alek Nilash scored from the penalty spot after left-back Moshe Glam, a former Ashdod player, had handled in the area. After 69 minutes they moved 2-0 ahead with Asi Tubi tucking the ball home from close range, following Oshri Alfasi's lobbed cross from the left. It was his seventh goal of the season and fourth in four games.
Superb free-kick
Yossi Madar reduced the deficit when he curled in a perfect 20-metre free-kick with four minutes left on the clock, but Netanya were unable to find an equaliser as their winless run extended to four games. No such problems for Ashdod who have now taken ten points from their last four games.
