Malta round-up: Sultana seals Hamrun win

Stefan Sultana's ninth goal of the season was enough to give Hamrun Spartans FC a 1-0 Maltese Premier League victory over Floriana FC on Tuesday. 

Sublime pass
Sultana was on the end of a sublime pass from youngster Mauro Brincat in the 56th minute, composing himself before sliding the ball beyond the reach of Matthew Camilleri in the Floriana goal. The same player came closest to opening the scoring in the first half but Sultana's 33rd-minute shot rebounded off a post.

Late chance
Edoardo do Nascimento almost snatched an undeserved equaliser for Floriana two minutes from time but his powerful header crashed against the crossbar. The victory sees Hamrum climb to fifth and they seem certain to play in the six-team Championship Pool when the league splits into two later this month.
