Article body
Bernd Krauss has been named as the new coach of FC Aris Thessaloniki.
Impressive CV
The former RCD Mallorca, BV Borussia Dortmund and Real Sociedad coach has been brought in to replace French coach Richard Tardi who was dismissed by the Ethniki Katigoria club after they lost to Xanthi FC in the Greek Cup on Wednesday.
Stiff challenge
Club president Yiannis Zachoudanis has charged Krauss with getting Aris into Europe next season, despite the club currently sitting in eighth position in the Hellenic National League, ten points behind leaders AEK Athens. "We must not lose sight of our aim which is to qualify for Europe," said the Austrian coach. "We have a number of matches to cover the lost ground."
International career
The 44-year-old coach has been offered a contract up until the end of the current season. Krauss was capped 22 times by Austria and had successful spells as a player with Dortmund, SK Rapid Wien and VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach. Krauss becomes Aris's third coach of the season following the departures of former France coach Henri Michel and his one-time assistant Tardi.
