Brazilian defender Marinho has left Turkish 1. Lig side Besiktas JK just 15 days after joining the club.

No starts
The 25-year-old player, who came to Turkey from Brazilian club Grêmio Football Porto Alegrense, had not started a match since moving to Istanbul and his only appearance came as a substitute in the 0-0 draw against Samsunspor last Saturday.

Contract cancelled
As well as Marinho’s desire for a regular place in the first team, it was reported this his wife Vanessa had trouble settling in the city. These problems led to Besiktas, who are second in the league and through to the Turkish Cup semi-finals, cancelling his 18-month contract.

'Family not happy'
"Marinho told me that his family came before his football career and his wife and son were not happy in Istanbul," club official Mete Düren said. "He agreed all our terms and we have cancelled his contract. We also have taken back the money we paid for him. If he joins another team, Besiktas will get a small amount for his fee."

High hopes
Marinho joined the club towards the end of last month and at the time said he was hopeful of a bright future in Turkey. "I realise that I have come to a big club," he said. "I will try to do my best to bring success to the club."
