FC Ashdod's Alon Ofir suffered mixed fortunes as his side secured a 2-1 win over Hapoel Petach-Tikva in the Israeli Premier League.
Third in two games
Ofir scored Ashdod’s first with a sensational free-kick from just outside the penalty area in the seventh minute, after Polish striker Andzi Kubika had been fouled. Asi Tubi doubled their lead on the half-hour mark, netting his third in two games from close range following Alon Hazan's cross from the right.
Ofir off
Yet Ofir was dismissed in the 52nd minute after picking up a second yellow card but, despite having an extra man for most of the second half, Petach-Tikva were unable to take full advantage. Yossi Shibchon did score for the visitors but his last-minute goal was to be nothing more than a consolation.
