Eggen dismissed in La Manga

Rosenborg BK coach Nils Arne Eggen was sent off as his side were defeated by Örgryte IS in the La Manga tournament in Spain.

Dismissed for dissent
The annual event, which traditionally serves as pre-season preparation for Scandinavian sides during the winter break, began on Monday with four matches. Eggen was dismissed for dissent after seeing defender Christer Basma sent off and full-back Ståle Stensaas booked. Örgryte, who battled back after a Frode Johnsen goal for Rosenborg in the first half, won 2-1, thanks to goals from Christian Hemberg and Martin Ulander.

Fortunate win
A goal in the dying seconds from Denden Berhane was enough to give AIK Solna a fortunate 2-1 win against Norwegian rivals Stabæk IF while two goals from Erik Nevland gave Viking FK a share of the spoils in a hard-fought 2-2 encounter with Swedish champions Hammarby IF FF.

Zane scores
Lilleström SK were the only Norwegian club to beat their Swedish opponents, Australian striker Clayton Zane scoring in a 4-1 defeat of Helsinborgs IF. The final match saw Halmstads BK draw 1-1 with the only Russian entrants, FC Locomotiv Moscow.
