Allan Hansen has been elected as the new president of the Danish Football Association (DBU).

Decisive majority
A board member since 1997, 52-year-old Hansen earned an impressive 92 per cent of the votes for the position to defeat the only other candidate for the position, vice-president Henning R. Jensen.

'Some work ahead'
"We have some work ahead of us in the form of recruiting leaders, better economic management in the clubs and the competitiveness of our top clubs in a European context," said Hansen.

'New thinking'
"We need some new thinking and it's my understanding that now is the time for dialogue," he added. "I want to turn the DBU into a unified organisation but I'm delighted to hear that there are also many things going well at the DBU."

Financial troubles
Hansen succeeds Poul Hyldgaard, who steps down after eleven years at the top and will have to contend with a difficult situation in the Danish Superliga with many of the countries top-flight clubs undergoing severe financial difficulties.
