Article body
Coleraine FC moved into third place in the Irish League with a 5-0 defeat of Ards FC, the bottom club, at the Showgrounds on Tuesday.
Armstrong opener
Sean Armstrong opened the scoring in the tenth minute from close range before Jody Tolan fired home the first of his two goals following a fine free-kick from Joseph Gray. Tolan's second strike ensured the home side went in three goals to the good at the interval and Armstrong and Barry Curran added further goals in the second half.
Close at the top
The emphatic victory sees Coleraine move to within a point of joint-leaders Glentoran FC and Portadown FC. Glentoran lead the way courtesy of their superior goal difference but Portadown, whose game with Omagh Town FC on Tuesday was postponed, have a game in hand on them, and two on Coleraine.
