Jefferies takes charge at Kilmarnock

Jim Jefferies has been appointed as the new manager of Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock FC, replacing Bobby Williamson.

Three-year contract
Jefferies has signed a contract keeping him at the club until 2005, having previously managed English first division team Bradford City AFC. He will be assisted by Ian Durrant, currently a midfield player with Kilmarnock.

Jefferies' delight
"I am delighted that Kilmarnock wanted me to become their next manager," said Jefferies. "This a big club who have gone places. I remember when I started off in management with Berwick Rangers [FC], they were in the same division which shows how far they have come. There is a great staff here and some good young players coming through so I'm looking forward to the task."

New Hibernian boss
Williamson left the club on Sunday to take over at Hibernian FC, becoming that club's third manager of the 2001/02 season.
