FK Rad have made two signings a few hours before Yugoslavian first division resumes.

FK Rad made two signings a few hours before the Yugoslavian first division resumes on Friday.

Signing from Brazil
Rad, currently eighth in the table, secured their own amateur defender Aleksandar Rankovic on a two-and-a-half year contract and also took former OFK Beograd midifeld player Vladimir Petkovic from Brazilian side Botafogo FR on an 18-month deal. Both players are former Yugoslavian Under-21 internationals.

Better outcome
Rankovic said: "I am staying in my club. I wanted to move to FK Obilic, but this outcome is much better. We have a strong team and we are ready for a position in the table which is leading to [UEFA] Intertoto Cup."

Quick return
Petkovic left Yugoslavia six months ago, but admitted: "I came back quickly from Brazil because of financial reasons. Simply, there is no money there. Leagues in Europe have already started and I did not have too much of a choice. Still, I have come to the right club."
