The promising youngster Patrik Gerrbrandt of the Swedish side Hammarby IF FF looks likely to miss the first half of the forthcoming Allsvenskan season after aggravating a groin injury.
Persistent pain
“It’s worse than before,” said Hammarby’s physiotherapist, Magnus Carlsson. “He picked up a stress fracture to the groin last season which he is still having problems with. He has been able to train, but the pain has been there.”
Big blow
The injury is a big blow to Hammarby’s ambitions of reclaiming the Swedish title as Gerrbrandt is highly regarded in Sweden. “Right now it looks like I will have to go back to rehabilitation training,” Gerrbrandt said. “We are waiting for a second opinion and after that we will know for sure what will happen.” Gerrbrandt joined the Swedish champions back in 1995 and made his first team debut in the Allsvenskan in 2000.
