Article body
F.Y.R. Macedonia international goalkeeper Sasa Ilic has left FK Vardar and signed for Russian first division side FC Dinamo St. Petersburg.
Will miss fixtures
After signing a contract with Dinamo, Ilic had to rush back home to F.Y.R. Macedonia to be with his family after the recent death of his sister. The 31-year-old Ilic, who signed a two-year deal, will return to St. Petersburg in a few days later in time for the beginning of the Russian first division season in late March.
'Very ambitious club'
Ilic played for the Yugoslavian Under-21 team, and then became a F.Y.R. Macedonian international. Upon securing his new deal Ilic said: "I spoke to the club president and other people at the club," he said. "I liked what I was told. This is a very ambitious club, and I hope we have a good shot at [Russian] Premier-Liga spot."
Mitreski the key figure
So far, the most prominent F.Y.R. Macedonia player in Russian football is Ilic's international teammate Igor Mitreski, a key figure in FC Spartak Moscow defence.
