Article summary
Hertha BSC Berlin's Marko Rehmer and Michael Hartmann face a month out through injury.
Article body
German international Marko Rehmer and defender Michael Hartmann will be out for the next three to four weeks following injuries suffered during Hertha BSC Berlin’s 1. Bundesliga match against 1. FC Köln on Saturday.
Torn ankle
Rehmer’s injury had initially looked like a fracture of the tibia, which would almost certainly have kept him away from the FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan, but it is fortunately less serious. Following a detailed check-up, Hertha’s medical staff confirmed on Monday that Rehmer had torn an ankle ligament and damaged the ankle capsule, but there is no break. A decision on whether the player will have to undergo surgery will be taken once the swelling has disappeared.
Fractured jaw
In the same game, Hartmann sustained a fractured jaw, which will require surgery as soon as he recovers from the concussion he suffered simultaneously.
