Northern Ireland round-up: Portadown push on

Portadown FC failed to find the net for the second consecutive match but still extended their lead at the top of the Irish League.

Wells inspired
Cliftonville FC held the table-toppers to a goalless draw at Solitude tonight. Portadown were the better team but found Cliftonville goalkeeper Davy Wells in great form. The visitors are now three points clear of second-placed Glentoran FC and still have a game in hand.

Linfield leave it late
Champions Linfield FC failed to take advantage in the other game, indeed they needed a late equaliser to earn a point from their 1-1 draw at Omagh Town FC. The Tyrone team went in front in the 57th minute through Barry Patton but Linfield defender Andrew Hunter snatched a point in the second minute of added time.
