NK Primorje crashed to a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of NK Gorica and failed to return to the top of the 1. SNL.
Goga on target
With NK Maribor beating NK Olimpija Ljubljana on Saturday, Primorje only needed a point to reclaim the top spot, having a superior goal difference to the new leaders. But, after a tight, goalless first half it was last season's Slovenian Cup winners who took the lead after the break. Ehad Goga netted in the 65th-minute, and then six minutes later made sure of the result with a second after being fed by Mladen Kovacevic.
Šmartno surprise
NK Šmartno pulled off the surprise result of the day as they came from 3-0 down to win 4-3 in a thrilling match at NK Publikum. An Andrej Kvas hat-trick looked to have given Publikum a comfortable three-goal margin early in the second half, but Smartno were not about to give in.
Smajlovic hat-trick
Four goals in 15 minutes stunned the home side as Ramiz Smajlovic bagged a hat-trick starting in the 60th minute, and finishing with a 78th-minute winner, after Dalibor Teinovic had levelled the scores four minutes earlier. Smartno move up to fifth.
Domzale lose again
The league's bottom club NK Domzale took the lead against NK Mura through Zivojin Vidojevic, but goals from Vladimir Kozulj and Marjan Dominko condemned Domzale to their 13th defeat of the season. NK Korotan won the battle of two of the league's basement teams as an 87th-minute Igor Bedo goal was enough to sink NK Zivila Triglav 1-0.
