Carnevali rediscovers his WIT

FC WIT Georgia Tbilisi have announced that Gianni Carnevali has returned as club coach.

FC WIT Georgia Tbilisi have announced that Italian coach Gianni Carnevali has returned to take charge of the club.

Failed deal
Carnevali left WIT at the beginning of the season to be coach of the Nigerian national side but failed to agree a deal with the Super Eagles. Since then he has been at FC Politehnica Timisoara in Romania. He takes over at WIT after Gocha Tkecbuchava's resignation earlier this week.

'Didn't think twice'
“I didn't think twice about president's offer to return," Carnevali said. The Italian added that the offer had come at exactly the right time. “My previous team was prohibited to play at their home stadium, and we have had problems with the city council in Timisoara."

Treated badly
Carnevali also said that he felt that the Nigerian Football Federation had treated him badly. “The Nigerians acted the way serious people shouldn't act: first they said one thing, then another," he said.

President pleased
“I am happy and unhappy for Gianni to return," said WIT president Dr Guram Rakhadze, “He had a real chance with Nigeria, and we released him, but it didn't work out."

Top-six finish
Rakhadze added that Carnevali will stay at the club until the end of the season at the very least and that he is now hoping for a top-six finish. WIT are currently lying seventh in the Georgian Premier League, 20 points adrift of leaders FC Torpedo Kutaisi.
