Hoping for win
Marseille, who were leading 1-0 at the time through a Piotr Swierczewski goal, were hoping for a win against third-placed Auxerre to close the gap on the leading pack. Victory for Auxerre would have taken them into second place behind RC Lens.
Referee's decision
Referee Eric Poulat decided to abandon the game after originally taking the players off in the hope of a break in the weather. The fixture will now be rescheduled and tonight's score annulled.
