Article body
Former PFC Levski Sofia coach Angel Stankov has replaced Velislav Vutsov at Bulgarian A PFG side PFC Spartak Pleven after signing a contract with the club on Monday.
Play-off hopes
Pleven lost 4-1 to Levski at the weekend to leave them in seventh place in the league. The defeat all but ended their hopes of reaching the top play-off group at the end of the season, a prize that goes to the top six. Pleven are four points adrift of sixth-placed PFC Slavia Sofia with only two games of the season left to play.
Excellent record
Stankov's credentials in the Bulgarian league could not be better. At Levski, in the 1998/99 season, he achieved 14 wins and one draw out of 15 games in charge but was inexplicably sacked at the end of the season. Stankov will be no stranger at Pleven as he will join seven Levski players who are currently on loan at the club.
