Azerbaijan round-up: Shafa maintain pressure

FC Shafa continued their challenge for the Yuksek Deste title with a 1-0 win on Saturday.

Struggling FC OIK Baku proved to be tough competition for the ambitious Shafa at the Tofig Bakhramov stadium but Samir Musayev's 49th-minute strike proved enough to secure the victory. OIK goalkeeper Anar Bayramov was left to rue his error after he misjudged the angle of Musayev's shot and the defeat leaves OIK second from bottom of the Azeri table.

Shafa eye top spot
Shafa, meanwhile, have cut the gap between themselves and leaders FC Shamkir to just three points. They sit level with second-placed FC Neftchi, although they have played a game more than both of their title rivals.
