SC Heerenveen moved up to third in the Eredivisie table with an emphatic 4-0 victory on Saturday.
First-half spree
Heerenveen raced into a 3-0 half-time lead against a bewildered NEC Nijmegen thanks to goals from Marcus Allbäck, Daniel Jensen and Mika Nurmela. Stefan Selakovic completed the scoring two minutes from full time to complete a miserable night for the visitors, who remain in eleventh place in the Eredivisie table.
Six-goal thriller
Elsewhere, SBV Vitesse twice came from behind to draw 3-3 at NAC Breda in a battle of UEFA Cup hopefuls. The hosts stormed into a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Nejbosa Gudelj and Glen Salmon before Vitesse finally showed some attacking intent. Nicky Hofs pulled one back and Matthew Amoah levelled the scores with a fine header.
Hofs levels the scores
To their credit, Breda came again and gained a 3-2 advantage when Csaba Fehér scored from the penalty spot. Vitesse had the final say, though, as Hofs pounced to level the scores after goalkeeper Gábor Babos fumbled.
Bombarda lifts Willem
In the evening's other game, Mariano Bombarda's late goal gave Willem II a 2-1 win and plunged FC Den Bosch further into relegation trouble. The hosts remain two places and two points above the drop zone but would have hoped for better after Fabian de Freitas gave them a 27th-minute lead. Tom Caluwe levelled seven minutes into the second half before Bombarda struck three minutes from the end to stun the home crowd.
