Boavista FC moved within a point of leaders Sporting Clube de Portugal with a 1-0 defeat of FC Paços de Ferreira at the Da Mata Real stadium.
Headed winner
Marcio Santos scored the winning goal in the 15th minute, heading home Petit's cross. The victory sets up a top-of-the-table meeting with Sporting, who have 63 points compared to Boavista's 62, on Saturday, with the 1. Liga leadership up for grabs.
Former leaders
Former leaders FC Porto had to settle for a 1-1 draw at UD Leiria. Porto took the lead 15 minutes in when João Manuel deflected Helder Postiga's shot into his own net, but Leiria equalised through Maciel four minutes after the break.
Braga victory
Riva and Barroso scored as SC Braga beat Varzim SC 2-0, while SC Farense and Vitória Setúbal drew 2-2. Farense went ahead through Hassan Nader after 15 minutes, but Hugo Henrique restored parity in first-half injury time. Carlos Costa put Setubal in front after 52 minutes, but Henrique's second from the penalty spot levelled the sides once more. Elsewhere, CD Santa Clara and CS Marítimo ground out a goalless draw.
