Marketing

The UEFA Champions League trophy will be displayed in Glasgow after its return by FC Bayern München.

UEFA Chief Executive Gerhard Aigner is to hand over the UEFA Champions League trophy for display in Glasgow after it is returned by champions FC Bayern München.

Tradition observed
It is now tradition for the holders to return the trophy in the city selected for the next final, which takes place this year at Hampden Park on Wednesday 15 May. This year's Champions League handover ceremony will take place in Glasgow's City Chambers on Thursday 11 April.

Former greats invited
After receiving the European Champion Clubs' Cup from a Bayern representative, Mr Aigner will present the cup to the Lord Provost of Glasgow, Alex Mosson, in front of invited guests including former Scottish greats who have had success in past UEFA club competitions.

Rotterdam reception
The following day, Friday 12 April, will see a similar ceremony in the Burgerzaal at the City Hall in Rotterdam. Last season's winners Liverpool FC will give the UEFA Cup to Mr Aigner, and he will then entrust it to the City of Rotterdam until the final is played at the Feijenoord stadium on Wednesday 8 May.
