English FA Premiership club Leicester City FC have promoted Micky Adams to the manager's job, with Dave Bassett taking on the role of director of football.
Last game for Bassett
Adams, who became assistant manager at Leicester after moving earlier this season from Brighton and Hove Albion FC, will take over on Monday, leaving Bassett in charge for Saturday's game against Manchester United FC.
Relegation looms
Earlier this season Bassett, 58, celebrated his 1000th match in football management, while Adams previously led both Fulham FC and Brighton to promotion in the Nationwide League. He is under contract at the club, who will be relegated on Saturday if they lose to United, until June 2004.
Chairman steps down
Football club chairman John Elsom made the announcement, and then revealed that he was relinquishing his own position in favour of Martin George. "I very much hope that the appointment of a new chairman and manager, coupled with the move to a new stadium, will see an upturn in the playing fortunes of the club," said Elsom, who reverts to his previous job of vice-chairman.
