Dinamo board takes firm action

Members

FC Dinamo Bucuresti's board have taken unprecedented steps to ensure the team wins the title.

Leaders FC Dinamo Bucuresti have fined all their players €400, frozen their bonuses and given the general manager Cornel Dinu increased powers in a bid to secure the Divizia A title.

Unprecedented action
The club’s board decided to take the unprecedented action after watching the team draw their last two league games, against CS Otelul Galati and FC Farul Constanta, and only reach the Romanian Cup semi-finals after a victory on penalties over FC Brasov. The decision was said to be made on the grounds that the quality of the performances were even worse than the results.

Supervisory role
Dinu, a former Dinamo coach who won the title in 2000 as well as the Romanian Cup in 2000 and 2001, has now taken a more hands-on supervisory role until the end of the season, as the board points the finger of blame at coach Ion Marin as well as the players. "Dinu can do what he wants", said Dinamo president Nicolae Badea. Marin, for his part, has agreed “to co-operate and decide together who will play".

Docked points
Dinamo have already been docked three points until a final decision is made in the match-fixing case following their game against FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt last month. They are still on top of the table on 40 points, with FC Rapid Bucuresti second on 36. The players will be paid their bonuses in full if the title is secured.
