Article body
RCD Espanyol's Martin Posse has been ruled of action for the rest of the season after tearing a muscle in his right leg during Sunday's league match against Villareal CF.
Scan conducted
Team doctor Joan Carles González confirmed that the Argentinian forward will not be out of action for up to four weeks. A scan conducted after the match in the stadium revealed the presence of blood in the player's muscle fibres which will delay his recovery.
Cavas injury
Espanyol had already made three substitutions when the player suffered the injury so he stayed on the pitch. In the same match, Ricardo Cavas also had to be substituted due to a bruise in his left leg. However, the club's medical staff is confident the player will recover in time for next weekend's match against Valencia CF.
No chance of UEFA Cup
Espanyol are currently tenth in the Primera División but have no chance of reaching sixth place and a berth in next season's UEFA Cup.
