Rangers FC beat Heart of Midlothian FC to virtually guarantee a second-placed finish.

Rangers FC gave their fans something to shout about on Sunday with a 2-0 win against Heart of Midlothian FC.

Dodds double
Scotland striker Billy Dodds scored both goals and lightened the mood around Ibrox just 24 hours after after arch-rivals Celtic FC were confirmed as Scottish Premier League champions. Dodds slid home his first of the match on 38 minutes after good play on the right by Andrei Kanchelskis.

Powerful header
And he added his second of the game on 70 minutes with a powerful header from a deep Neil McCann cross to virtually guarantee Rangers second place in the table with four games still to play.

Venetis opener
Dundee United FC defeated Hibernian FC 2-1 in Sunday's only other league game. A goal on the stroke of half-time from Tassos Venetis gave Alex Smith's side the lead.

Hibernian maintain status
Derek Lilley put the home side 2-0 up before Garry O'Connor netted the consolation strike for Hibernian in the 66th minute. Dundee United are now within two points of city rivals Dundee FC who hold eighth place in the league table. Hibernian slip down to second bottom, but have retained their top-flight status after Saint Johnstone FC were relegated on Saturday.
