Omonia FC scored an incredible eleven goals as they got back to winning ways today.
Unbelievable result
The Cypriot champions erased the memory of some indifferent recent performances as they beat hapless Doxa Katakopia FC 11-3 at the GSZ stadium in Larnaca. Striker Rainer Rauffman hit an incredible double hat-trick for Omonia, and goals for Alexis Pittas, Vesko Mihajlovic, Costas Kaiafas and two for Gunter Thiebaut completed a miserable afternoon for Doxa goalkeeper Andreas Kolokotronis.
Scant consolation
Cameroon striker Nicolas Dikoume scored twice and Antonis Makris, who is on loan from Omonia, scored with a fabulous shot to give Doxa some reward for their afternoon's efforts.
Leaders drop points
League leaders APOEL Nicosia FC dropped two valuable points away to AEP Paphos FC in a 1-1 draw. AEP were the better side throughout the game and it needed some exceptional saves from APOEL goalkeeper Michalis Morfis to keep the attacking trio of Zenzo Moyo, Sasa Jovanovic and Savvas Zoetsas at bay. Moyo eventually gave AEP the lead after he headed a Jovanovic corner into the net after 50 minutes but Elias Solakis equalised from Sinisa Gogic's cross with time running out.
Anorthosis reduce gap
Anorthosis Famagusta FC took full advantage of APOEL's slip-up as they cruised to an 4-1 victory at home to Ilie Dumitrescu's Alki FC while AEL Limassol FC kept their quest for a UEFA Cup place on track as they secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against neighbours Apollon Limassol FC.
Enosis go fifth
In the other games today, Enosis Neon Paralimni FC crept into fifth place in the league standings with a 4-1 win over Ethnikos Ashias FC and Olympiakos Nicosia FC defeated this season's cup finalists Ethnikos Achnas FC 3-2 at the GSP stadium in Nicosia.
