Celtic FC secured their second consecutive Scottish Premier League title in emphatic style with a 5-1 defeat of Livingston FC.

Celtic FC secured their second straight Scottish Premier League title in emphatic style with a 5-1 defeat of Livingston FC.

Larsson hat-trick
Swedish international Henrik Larsson scored a hat-trick as Celtic overwhelmed Livingston and made sure Glasgow rivals Rangers FC would have no chance of catching them in the final weeks of the season.

Hartson hits two
Larsson slid home the first on only three minutes before John Hartson struck twice in six first-half minutes. Didier Agathe laid on Hartson's first before the Welshman powered home a header from Steve Guppy's cross on 25 minutes.

Consolation goal
Larsson added a fourth in the 33rd minute then completed his hat-trick on the hour after Paul Lambert had been freed in the area by Neil Lennon. Barry Wilson grabbed a late consolation for the visitors but the party belonged to Celtic.

Saint Johnstone down
Elsewhere, Saint Johnstone FC were relegated from the top tier after drawing 1-1 with nearest rivals Motherwell FC. The Perth club started the day 14 points behind their opponents and needed five wins from the last five games to have any chance of avoiding the the drop.

Elliot on target
Despite taking the lead through Paul Hartley in the 22nd minute, Stuart Elliot's 70th-minute equaliser sealed Saints' fate. Elliot reacted quickest after Eric Deloumeaux's shot had rebounded off the post to score the goal which condemned the McDiarmid Park side.

Dons draw
Aberdeen FC edged closer to the UEFA Cup next season with a hard-fought draw against Dunfermline FC. An East End Park stalemate did little to excite the Fife crowd, yet took the Dons three points clear of nearest rivals Livingston in third place.

Joy for Dundee
At Dens Park, Dundee FC striker Juan Sara scored his 13th goal of the campaign to set the home side on the way to a third straight victory, against Kilmarnock FC. The Argentinian struck shortly before half-time from Javier Artero's cross. The match was put beyond Jim Jefferies's Kilmarnock when Steven Milne added a second with a close-range header.

Rangers play on Sunday

The weekend fixtures will be completed on Sunday when Rangers play Heart of Midlothian FC at Ibrox and Dundee United FC entertain Hibernian FC at Tannadice Park.
