Portadown reach cup final

Portadown FC and Linfield FC will contest the Irish Cup final after victories on Saturday.

Portadown FC reached the Irish Cup final with today's 2-0 win against Coleraine FC.

Portadown in control
Portadown prevented Coleraine reaching their first final for 16 years with a goal in each half in a comfortable 2-0 win at Windsor Park. The league leaders were always in control against a disappointing Coleraine side and went ahead after 14 minutes when Dean Fitzgerald capitalised after Coleraine failed to clear Kyle Neill's cross.

Hamilton scores
Gary Hamilton made sure of the victory 17 minutes from the time with a cool finish. The striker collected a long pass from defender Neil Ogden and switched the ball on to his left foot before firing a low shot in off the far post.

Linfield go through
Reigning champions Linfield FC will be their opponents in the final after they cruised to a 4-0 victory against amateur side Killyleagh YC. Linfield were only one goal ahead at half-time but a second shortly after the interval from Tony Gorman made their victory certain, especially when the amateurs had a player sent off.

Morgan strikes
Chris Morgan, opened the scoring in the 14th minute, maintaining his record of scoring in every round of this season's Irish Cup. Five minutes into the second half, Linfield doubled their lead when midfield player Gorman's low shot from the edge of the area somehow slipped under the body of goalkeeper Brian Burgess.

Holland dismissed
Killyleagh's Stephen Holland was dismissed before Glenn Ferguson made it 3-0 with a side-footed far-post finish and Stuart King completed the scoring eleven minutes from the end with a curling shot.
