Members

AZ Alkmaar's John Bosman retired at the weekend after 19 seasons as a professional and 251 goals.

John Bosman ended his career after 19 seasons of professional football by scoring his 250th and 251st goals in AZ Alkmaar's home Eredivisie 5-0 win over NEC Nijmegen on Sunday.

Nagging injuries
The 37-year old striker, who started his career in 1983 with AFC Ajax, has been forced to terminate his playing days because of persistent minor injuries. Bosman has also played for PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente in the Netherlands and RSC Anderlecht and KV Mechelen in Belgium.

Personal tragedy
Last season, Bosman played only nine matches for AZ Alkmaar due to injuries and a sad personal tragedy when his son was killed in a car accident.

Thirty caps
Bosman earned 30 caps for the Dutch national team scoring 17 goals and was part of the squad that won the UEFA European Championships in 1998.
