Ten-man Legia Warszawa maintained their six-point advantage over title rivals KS Amica Wronki after a goalless draw at Amica tonight.
Czereszewski denied
Legia, the Ekstraklasa leaders, enjoyed the lion's share of possession and had the ball in the net early on only for Sylwester Czereszewski's strike to be disallowed for offside. Czereszewski then wasted the best opportunity of the match in 35th minute, firing wide from the edge of the area when clean through on Amica goalkeeper Grzegorz Szamotulski's goal.
Dismissal of Magiera
Legia's hopes of winning the match were hit three minutes later by the dismissal of midfield player Jacek Magiera, following a second bookable offence. "I fouled only twice and received two yellow cards," Magiera said. "The first one was deserved but if I was the referee, I'd not be so quick to make a second booking."
Stanew untroubled
In the second half, Legia defended intelligently, limiting second-placed Amica to shots from outside the box and leaving goalkeeper Radostin Stanew relatively untroubled. "We were looking to play in a different way. I don't know why we played like we did," said Amica midfield player Jerzy Podbrozny.
'Good result for Legia'
Legia forward Cezary Kucharski said: "I hope we clinch the league soon. I think it's a very good result for Legia. The referee said to us he's sorry for his mistake. It's hard to play against a good team like Amica with a player less. We are tired, but satisfied."
