Members

Merab Zhordania, the president of the Georgian Football Federation, fired all his staff on Tuesday.

Merab Zhordania, the president of the Georgian Football Federation (GFF) for the last three-and-a-half years, made the extraordinary move of firing all his staff yesterday.

‘New personnel’
"I am going to start a new campaign with new personnel," Zhordania announced at a press conference. "I will find the right people within two days."

Run for president
Zhordania made the decision after David Petriashvili, a long-serving member of his staff, announced his intention to run for the presidency of the GFF when the elections are held in August this year.

Chkhaidze joins the race
Petriashvili is the son of the former FC Dinamo Tbilisi player Guram Petriashvili. He will be up against Vazha Chkhaidze, the co-president of FC Mretebi Tbilisi, as well as Zhordania in the election.
