Article body
FC Sheriff Tiraspol took another step towards defending their title with a 4-0 win against FC Happy End Camenca.
Nesteruc hits three
The Moldovan champions made short work of their meeting with Camenca, thanks largely to a hat-trick from their young prodigy Andrei Nesteruc. Romanian new boy Sorin Botis also got on the scoresheet.
Zimbru in poor form
It proved a valuable victory as Sheriff`s only serious contenders for the title, FC Zimbru Chisinau, stumbled to a 1-1 draw in their game with FC Hincesti. The gap between the top two is now eleven points with ten games to go in the league.
Blanuta shocks Zimbru
Zimbru looked set to record three much-needed points after taking the lead through Victor Berco's strike but that goal was cancelled out by Eduard Blanuta three minutes from time. The draw continued Zimbru's poor form against weaker clubs, as they have already drawn with Hincesti and fellow basement-dwellers Camenca this season.
Intertoto place at stake
As the top three is almost decided, the fight for the fourth place - which guarantees a UEFA Intertoto Cup berth - is hotting up. FC Constructorul-93 Ciobrciu made an important step towards Europe with a 1-0 win against FC Agro Chisinau while in the day's other game, FC Tiligul Tiraspol drew 1-1 with FC Nistru Otaci.
