A Thomas Røll double helped champions FC København to a 3-0 win over Lyngby FC in the Superligaen today and closed the gap on leaders Brøndby IF, who lost at home to FC Midtjylland.
Jónsson opener
Røll scored in the 26th and 69th minutes for København, who played without superstar Sibosisu Zuma. Faroe Islands international Todi Jónsson opened the scoring after eleven minutes.
Shock result
Krister Nordin's late strike could not save the leaders as two earlier goals gave Midtjylland their 2-1 win at the Brøndby stadium. Midtjylland went ahead after eleven minutes through defender Søren Skriver, who volleyed past Mogens Krogh after beating the offside trap. Frank Kristensen made sure of the points 12 minutes from time and Nordin's close range effort five minutes from the end was just a consolation.
Beck leveller
Third-placed Aalborg BK needed a late penalty from Danish striker Mikkel Beck to earn a point at AGF Århus. The home side held the lead for 70 minutes, after three goals in the opening 15 minutes.
Penalty drama
Tom Christensen scored the opener after six minutes, but Peter Tranberg levelled matters from close range five minutes on. AGF continued to pressurise and after 15 minutes won a spot-kick when Anders Bjerre was felled by Brian Priske. Defender John Jensen scored from ten metres. But with four minutes to go, referee Nikolas Vollqvartz gave a second penalty when Nikolaj Hust infringed Beck, who stepped up to score.
Brøgger earns point
Odense BK and Silkeborg IF also drew 2-2, with Lars Brøgger netting late to earn Silkeborg the point, while Akademisk Boldklub beat Vejle BK 4-0. In the day's other game, Esbjerg fB's Kristian Karlsson scored the only goal to earn a 1-0 victory over Viborg FF.
