Setúbal president Jorge Goes revealed that the club had fought off interest from two other Portuguese sides to secure Campos's signature for next season. Campos started the campaign at the helm of Gil Vicente FC but was fired after a run of poor results.

League safety
Setúbal, newly promoted to the Portuguese first division this season, moved in for Campos after the resignation of Jorge Jesus in January. Since when Campos has steered the west coast club to league safety. With two games left to play this season Setúbal are ten points clear of the relegation zone.
