João Pinto made it 1-0 after 20 minutes, netting with a header from Rui Jorge's deep cross. Jardel doubled his side's advantage five minutes later after neat build-up play involving Facundo Quiroga, Pedro Barbosa and João Pinto.
Red card
Marítimo's Brazilian defender Ezequias was sent off after collecting two yellow cards seven minutes from time, and Sporting made their numerical advantage count in the final two minutes. André Cruz scored with a direct free-kick in the 89th minutes, before Jardel made it 4-0 with a penalty in stoppage time after Daniel Kenedy had handled.
Gil Vicente in charge
Gil Vicente FC made home advantage count as they beat CF Os Belenenses 3-2 at the Adelino Ribeiro Novo stadium. Lemos opened the scoring after just seven minutes, before Ricardo Sousa equalised for Belenenses four minutes later. Portuguese international striker Paulo Alves headed in a Ricardo Fernandes' free-kick to regain the lead and Brazilian striker Manoel made it 3-1 eleven minutes after the break. César Peixoto scored a penalty on the hour mark but Gil Vicente hung on.
Derlei double
Derlei was the hero for UD Leiria as they beat FC Alverca 2-1 in a hard-fought encounter. Derlei scored his first from a Nuno Valente cross after 14 minutes, before Alverca equalised through a Tiago own goal at the start of the second half. Derlei then secured a valuable three points 14 minutes from time.

In the day's other two fixtures, FC Paços de Ferreira and Varzim SC drew 0-0, while Vitória Guimarães and SC Beira Mar also played out a goalless draw.
